About NUMCECC

Curriculum

NUMCECC utilizes "Storybook Journey", a literacy and play based approach to learning, while incorporating "Creative Curriculum", "Everyday Math", and "Zoo-phonics" to provide stimulating, developmentally appropriate activities. Our unique blending of curriculum delivers opportunities to explore all areas of development: social-emotional, physical, cognitive, literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and the arts.

Teachers strive to meet each child’s individual needs. We recognize the importance of learning through play and facilitate both child-directed activities as well as teacher-directed instruction.

Philosophy

It is the philosophy of NUMCECC that the early years of childhood are a key time for the development of social awareness, self-concept, physical growth, intellectual curiosity, and creativity. We believe it is important for a child to have time to grow and develop in these areas, to have a chance to discover himself/herself and others, as well as a chance to make age-appropriate decisions in a safe, accepting and encouraging environment.

"Our focus is to develop the whole child."

Parent Testimonials

"I love the warm, inviting environment and how my children feel welcome everyday when they are greeted by their teachers. The smaller school and classroom setting offers plenty of personal attention for my child."

"It's graduation day for my 5 year old, and as I sit here reflecting on his 2 years at NUMCECC, I am just overwhelmed at how much he has learned and grown. The curriculum is play based, so it really works with the way a child naturally learns and develops. They don't even realize they are learning, but believe me, they are! My son is about to start kindergarten in the fall but he is already meeting 90% of the benchmarks for FIRST grade! The teachers at NUMCECC are second to none. You can tell they truly care about their children, most of them have been there for 10-20 years or more, and they are always caring, smiling, and engaged with the kids. The classrooms are always clean, safe, and cheerful, and every member of the staff is friendly and supportive. I am going to miss this school so much!"

"I have been very impressed with this school. My daughter has thrived in this learning environment due to the dynamic and compassionate teachers, engaging curriculum and safe environment."

"My oldest went to this preschool from age 3 thru 5. We loved it. The teachers are the best. Most of them have been teaching there for a long time and the turn around is very low. I also love the directed play for learning. My daughter is now 8 and still talks great about it. Next year, my youngest will be starting and I can't wait to see everyone again."

Mary Scholl: Director

My name is Mary Scholl and I have been involved with our preschool since 1993.  I discovered NUMCECC when my daughter started preschool, followed by my son.  I volunteered for the school and admired the philosophy, curriculum, and most importantly, the interactions with the children in the program.  It was then I decided to join the NUMCECC team as a teacher.  Over the years I have been a teacher, a bookkeeper, an office assistant, the Assistant Director, and the Director for NUMCECC.  Each day at school I love to see the children's faces and watch them explore, learn, and interact with their peers and the staff.  Although my original career path and degree was in fashion, I soon discovered my heart was working with children and the importance of educating the young child.  I went back to college and got my Director Certification in Early Childhood Education from Front Range Community College.  I was born in Illinois and have lived in Colorado since I was 5 years of age.  My husband and I have three children, grandchildren, dogs, cats and fish.  I love to spend time doing projects at home and traveling.

Kelly Mudgett: Duck Classroom

My name is Kelly Mudgett.  I have been an early childhood educator for many years, and I love it!  Seeing the wonder, excitement, and the "ah-ha" moments on children's faces is amazing.  I particularly enjoy guiding children through conflict-resolutions and enabling them to problem solve for themselves.  I appreciate and respect the individual differences of all people.  My husband, Brad, and I moved here from the state of Washington for me to attend graduate school.  That was twenty years ago, so we now consider ourselves Coloradans.  We have two daughters, a Pointer-Mix dog named Cash (for Johnny Cash), and a Russian Blue Brindle kitty named Emmie (shortened from 'Emerald' for her green eyes).  I love to spend time with my family, vacation, go out for dinner (or breakfast, coffee, lunch, dessert...), hike, read, relax, laugh, listen to a variety of music, take spin classes, do Pilates, bake, and eat most sweets and baked goods!

Rhonda Olson: Ladybug Classroom

Hello, my name is Rhonda Olson.  I have been teaching at NUMCECC since 1995.  My son went to preschool here and I loved the program so much, I stayed on as a teacher!  During my years working here at NUMCECC, I have worked with children as young as 18 months all the way to our 5 year olds.  Being a preschool teacher has been such a blessing.  I love being around kids because they are so excited to learn and explore.  I'm a Colorado native.  I have lived in Wheat Ridge, Arvada, Broomfield, and currently, Northglenn.  I have been married since 1983.  My husband Randy and I have a daughter, a son, a daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren.  I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, traveling, and going to the mountains.

Cristin Premer: Frog Classroom

Hi, my name is Cristin Premer.  I have been a teacher here at NUMCECC  for many years.  I am so lucky that my job enables me to meet so many wonderful families and be a part of their children's first experience with school and learning.  I live in Northglenn with my husband, our son, and our two dogs. I love to travel. I enjoy watching my son and husband play sports, going to the movies, and scrapbooking.

Shannon Luthi: Honeybee Classroom

My name is Shannon Luthi. I have been a teacher at NUMCECC for over a decade!  Teaching preschool fulfills me.  Seeing those little faces on a daily basis and knowing I can make a difference in their lives is why I love teaching.  My husband, John, and I have two wonderful children, a Black Lab named Sadie, and a cat named Daisy.  I enjoy reading books on my Kindle and taking Sadie for walks around our neighborhood. I also enjoy watching our son, Jordan, play baseball during the spring and summer months.
